Kilkivan
Queensland first gold discovery was made at Kilkivan in 1852 and escalated into a gold rush in 1868 - you can still try your luck at the prophet gold mine.
Take a step back in time and wonder the town's historical museum or visit the famous Booubyjan homestead. Relax at Boonara homestead or the Left Bank Café and taste some of the South Burnett's tempting local produce and wines, or stay a while longer in one of the luxurious B&Bs.
There is always an excuse to visit with some of the regions biggest events; The Kilkivan Great Horse Ride in April and the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival in May.
Kilkivan is the north-eastern entrance to the South Burnett and is home to a progressive tourism community with a host of experiences to share with their visitors. Attractions within this area boast an emphasis on diversity! Tempt your tastebuds with local olives and redclaw crayfish. Tantalise your senses with the aroma and healing properties of Lavender direct from the farm. Allow yourself to glimpse life as it used to be, by wandering the town's historical museum in the main street.
